Our two girls, Alley (below) and Daisy generally were very cooperative with the photo shoots as long as I had a bunch of treats..... taken at f/2.2 1/20sec IS0-800
all of the following were taken with a Sony Alpha 7 and a Zeiss fixed 55mm/1.8 lens except where otherwise noted...all were existing light.
f/5 at 1/60sec, ISO-500
This is the time of year that the blue bonnets are in bloom in N. Texas. Daisy doesn't care however, just wants her treats...

So how long have you been using a mirror less camera? I used one for a day and was really impressed with their abilities, lightness & compact size.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are great, and my personal favorites are #1, 4 & 10. You definitely caught a lot of personality in your photos!
Hey Joanne! I've had the Alpha7 for about one year. First time using a Sony as DLSR is a Canon. As I do a bit of travelling, I wanted something easier to do just that with but wasn't willing to sacrifice photo quality. I'm really enjoying the camera but the learning curve was a bit steep. A good analogy would be going from a relatively basic car from 10 years ago to one today - my wife has a Ford Edge and she's heard me say more than once, "hey, all I want to do is change the channel".... The 'mirrorless' benefits is only for size. The biggest advantage of the Alpha7 is that it is 'full frame' - mine is 24mp and the A7r is 36mp. I don't know your photography experience but the ramped up megapixels is great ONLY if you have 'glass'.... i.e., your brain has more megapixels then we know what to do with but if our 'eyeglasses' are crappy...... well, what does the brain see??
ReplyDeletebtw, which mirrorless did you use???
I used an Olympus OM-D EM-1 for 5 hrs, and it was a huge learning curve. I just read an article about your camera today and it has a lot of good ratings. I'm not willing to start buying all new glass again, so I'm sticking with my Canon 60D (although the full frame 6D is pretty enticing)!
DeleteWOW Rex, those are all terrific....I kept going back and forth trying to pick a favorite between the first three dog pics...but then I looked at number 10 again and decided that's my favorite....I just love the clarity , the tongue action and colors.....great job....
ReplyDelete3 and 4 I think hit it right on! A portrait with sharp eyes and expression in the face. Great back drop with the flowers. They should be framed and sitting side by side. Very good.
ReplyDelete#3 & 4 are my favorites too.....although I must say, the goofy lookin' llama (I think that's what that guy is...) caught my heart!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures Rex!!
